    General Accounting Checklist

The full accounting task calendar, daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual. Print and pin above your bookkeeper's desk.

    Why this matters

Accounting is a rhythm business. Consistent daily, weekly, and monthly cycles produce reliable financials; inconsistent effort produces unreliable ones no matter how many hours go in.

Most small-business bookkeeping problems come from doing tasks in the wrong cycle: quarterly-scale work done annually, or weekly work done monthly.

The right cadence takes 5-15 hours per week for a business under $2M in revenue. Batching everything into a single monthly binge takes longer and produces worse results.

    How to use it

    1. Print and post the checklist somewhere visible.
    2. Assign each task to a specific person, 'the bookkeeper' or 'the owner' is not specific enough for a team of two.
    3. Set calendar reminders for weekly and monthly recurring tasks.
    4. Track completion for at least 90 days to build the habit.
